Change in LPG Cylinder Booking Rules, Clarifies Centre

Desk News : Voice of Calcutta

Amid widespread confusion over a possible change in LPG cylinder booking rules, the Central Government has issued a clear clarification: no new rules have been introduced.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that the existing booking guidelines remain unchanged for all consumers—whether they have a single or double cylinder connection, and whether they are beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana or not.

What are the current rules?

In urban areas, consumers must wait at least 25 days after booking one cylinder before placing the next booking.

In rural areas, the minimum gap remains 45 days.

The clarification comes after reports and claims circulated suggesting that booking intervals had been revised—especially for Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries and double-cylinder users. Some reports even claimed that the waiting period had been extended to 35 days or more.

However, the government has dismissed all such claims as baseless and misleading.

Earlier, certain gas distributor groups had hinted at possible changes in booking intervals, which added to the confusion among consumers. In response, the Centre has now stepped in to set the record straight.

There is no change in LPG cylinder booking rules. Consumers are advised not to believe rumours and rely only on official updates.
