Gyanesh Kumar faced a barrage of questions from journalists during a press conference in Kolkata following a key review meeting on election preparedness in the state. Several issues, including poll arrangements, voter list revision, and law and order during elections, were raised by the media.

Responding to the queries, the Chief Election Commissioner said that Election Commission of India is fully committed to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. He added that the Commission is closely reviewing preparations and holding discussions with the state administration to assess all necessary arrangements.

On the issue of voter list revision, Kumar stated that the updating of electoral rolls is an ongoing process. Any complaints or objections submitted to the Commission will be examined as per the established rules and procedures.

Journalists also raised questions regarding the law and order situation during the elections. In response, Kumar said that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure a peaceful voting process, including the deployment of central security forces wherever required. Coordination with the state administration is also being maintained for smooth conduct of the polls.

During the press interaction, reporters also asked whether the elections would be held in a single phase or multiple phases. However, the Chief Election Commissioner did not announce any specific schedule, stating that the Commission would take a decision at the appropriate time after reviewing the overall situation.

He concluded by reiterating that the Election Commission remains committed to conducting elections in a neutral and transparent manner in accordance with democratic principles.
