Dreams were painted in the colors of spring as the King of Seasons arrived with festive grace.
Listen closely—the call of Basanta (spring) echoed through songs, colors, and celebration.
March 3 marked the celebration of Basanta Utsav and Dol Jatra. This sacred day of Phalguni Purnima unites Dol Jatra and Holi in a single cultural and spiritual tradition. Rooted in history and religious belief, the festival is inspired by the eternal love of Radha and Krishna, whose divine romance continues to color generations with joy and devotion.
To make the day even more vibrant, Bengal and its people immersed themselves in the spirit of spring.
On this occasion, the residents of Barasat came together in celebration at Vivekananda Place, where various social and cultural organizations organized a series of colorful events.
A grand and lively morning procession began from the Puja Mandir premises of Vivekananda Place. The procession featured melodious songs of spring, traditional dance performances, and rhythmic beats of the dhak drum. Clouds of abir (colored powder) filled the air, creating a breathtaking spectacle that left local residents mesmerized.
The festival witnessed the enthusiastic participation of a group of brides and young girls along with men and women of all ages. Dressed in yellow and spring-colored sarees, adorned with flowers, they seemed to mirror nature itself in human form. Their presence brought a special charm to the celebration and added a fresh glow to the festive atmosphere.
Music, dance, and colors blended into one harmonious expression of unity and happiness. The entire area resonated with laughter and cultural pride, reminding everyone that Basanta Utsav is not merely a festival but a celebration of life, love, and togetherness.
The grand and colorful celebration at Vivekananda Place was brought to life through the devoted efforts of Nataraj Cultural Academy, whose relentless dedication transformed the festival into a truly memorable spectacle.
Painted in the colors of Radha and Krishna’s timeless love, the Spring Festival once again delivered a message of harmony—
to forget differences, embrace one another, and color life with joy and peace.
